From Minneapolis

Colin & I got on the train at about 11:30 last night. We brought the following things, in no particular order:

Whiskey (2), Wine (1), Prairie Vodka (1), Candied Almonds, Socks, Underwear & Tampons (for our fellow builders, who we learned had made a mad dash to the train in Chicago), Samosas from the basement coffee shop on Cedar (12), Ginger Beer, Scientific American, Chocolate, a positive attitude.

5:30AM, somewhere in North Dakota. Train is bumping along. Can’t sleep. No cell phone signal. Amish folks in the seat behind me whispering to eachother in a language I can’t understand, except every few minutes, when they say “mountains” - and I know that we are looking forward to the same thing. -shanai
